Welcome to my May Newsletter. This is now going to be a regular newsletter to all my lovely customers. I will be telling you about what I have been up to, events and pop up shops I will be attending, new products and special promotions especially for you.

Last October Festival Place Shopping Centre in Basingstoke decided to trial a new idea coming up to Christmas. Kate and Tracy are the brains behind it and they organised some of the best local crafters in the area to be involved, they were limited to 25 at the time due to the size of the shop available. It proved to be such a success and a unique and interesting concept that they have been asked to come back. The English Charm Co. are lucky enough to share in their continued success of “All Our Own Crafts”. Above is a selection of the lovely items you can find in the shop, but there are loads more. Lesley Awarded The Pendant charm with child’s hand print & Foot print 4.7/5

Lovely pendant, great quality. The packaging is very elegant and reflects the quality of the pendant beautifully. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Excellent quality, the sterling silver displays the hand print very well. The service, instructions and delivery of the pendant was excellent, the packaging is lovely. This is something to offer someone as a special gift, not something to buy myself. I would consider buying a gift like this for my mother/mother-in-law for a special occasion. It’s a nice thing to have as a memento of when a child was small. The necklace pendant was just a little too big for my taste. As I don’t wear bracelets I chose the necklace pendant but may have been happier with the bracelet size pendant for my necklace. The service from The English Charm Company was great though. The English Charm Company delivered a great service for a fantastic product. The quality of the product cannot be faulted. The presentation box was beyond my expectations and matched the quality of the charm inside. Lovely gift for someone special. Lesley Buick – Fraser 10 Months

Rachel Awarded The Pendant charm with child’s hand print & Foot print 4.3/5

Very happy with the item – lovely as an item for yourself or a gift. Beautiful. Presented very well in a black box with blue ribbon. Easy to understand instructions. It was hard to take the hand and foot impression from a fidgety one year old. Would be far easier with a much younger baby who wasn’t so keen on moving everywhere! Excellent final product. I would happily pay £40 for the pendant alone as the quality and presentation is excellent. I would recommend this as lovely gift. Overall, very happy. I just think a second sheet of paper might be helpful if taking a print from a baby on the move! Rachel Dicks – Grace 1 Year

Yasmin Awarded The Pendant charm with child’s hand print & Foot print 4.5/5

It looked very well made and I was very pleased. The box was lined with an identical picture of my daughter’s handprint which was a very personal touch. It was well presented and even included a cleaning cloth to care for the charm. The instructions were basic and I was able to follow them. It appears to be of good quality and will last a long time. The handprint although small has fitted onto the charm well and my daughter’s name is written alongside the print which gives it that extra special look. The cost is about what I would expect for a personalised product of this nature. I would be happy purchasing this type of product as it is a special memento and something that captures your little ones handprint forever. It is good quality and I would recommend as a special gift/memento. Overall it is a lovely special product and something that would be an ideal gift for a new mum. The lady that works at the company was good at keeping in touch with me to ensure that the product was what I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it looked and I am very pleased with the charm as it is something I will wear for a long time.Yasmin Sked – Caitlin 10 Months

Mumpreneur Magazine Feature

Added: 1st March 2015

The English Charm Co. featured in the Spring edition of Mumpreneur Magazine. In the article I talked about how I started my business and the different stages including the obstacles along the way, whilst still being a mum and bringing up a young family.

I started my business after my second child went to school full time. It was a tough decision to know what to do. Too often I have the same conversation with mums about how to get back into a role which is financially viable and is something you really love.

I took the decision to leave the corporate world when I had my second child. I did do some freelance work, but I wanted something for me, something I could really put my own stamp on and have complete control of.

My background in Product Development and Marketing has also given me a solid platform, from which I have built and continue to build my own business.

I trained with the Craft Ecademy and I am a member of the Keepsake Guild, adhering to a code of practice and quality.  I wanted to ensure I provide quality products and run a professionally managed business.

I now have an amazing website, with an estore so people can buy online.

Social media has played an important role in getting my business known with a recognisable online presence. Facebook and Twitter are my main platforms currently, but this will also include Instagram and Pinterest this year as my products are very visual and great to showcase products.  I also have presence in local stores, and my business also operates through a direct sales channel at regional events.

Experiences along the way have made be stronger and I know that any pitfalls I come across, allow me to learn from my mistakes and keep going. When you run your own business you realise that you have to manage every aspect from accounts, to marketing, invoicing and actually making the finished goods.

I do love what I do and woudn’t change it for the world.

Blogger Review of The English Charm Co.

Added: 16th December 2014

My favourite type of gift has to be a something that I can keep forever and look back on, remembering the time I received it, what was happening in my life and reasons behind it. I’m quite a sentimental soul.

Since the birth of the little man I’ve become a little obsessed with collecting keepsakes and mementos from his early days and months, so much so, I already have a rather large box filled with ‘things’ to keep. Whilst it’s nice to keep things its not always practical so I was rather excited when I was given the opportunity of reviewing a beautiful piece of keepsake jewellery from The English Charm Company.

The English Charm Company is ran by the lovely Natasha who is based in Hampshire. Natasha designs and creates beautiful handmade keepsake jewellery which is perfect to give as a gift or receive.

Natasha offers a range of products including hand prints, finger prints, footprints or a child’s drawing, all printed forever onto 99.9% pure silver. Each item purchased is sent in an elegant box with a beautifully tired ribbon, silver polishing cloth and care instructions.

After much deliberation and website viewing I opted for the Personalised heart shaped single charm*, a gorgeous charm suitable to affix to a bracelet or keyring.

What’s really clever about The English Charm Company is everything can be ordered and created online or through the post, there’s no need to visit Natasha in person.

To create our charm we were sent an impression kit through the post. The impression kit consists of two pots of coloured clay/putty which must be mixed together and rolled into a ball.

The ball is what will hold the finger print of your little person, ready for it to be created into a piece of keepsake jewellery.

I did need assistance getting the little mans finger print onto the ball as he was intent on trying to squash it or eat it! You do need to be quite quick when trying to get the fingerprint as the putty does start to dry quite quickly. When we finally managed, we left it to dry for a little while before parcelling it back up to send back to Natasha to create something pretty. You can read more about the process of how a piece of jewllery is created here.

Around a week after I’d sent off the finger prints a little beautifully wrapped little box arrived on my doorstep.

When I’d unwrapped the pretty little gift box I was greeted with a gorgeous heart shaped charm with the imprint of my little mans finger!

The charm is quite large, much larger than I’d expected. It has a chunky look which I really like. I’m not really a fan of delicate jewellery so a thick, chunkier style of charm is much more suitable for me.

The heart shaped charm costs a very reasonable £45. Natasha has a range of products for all budgets on her website which you can check out here. I love the idea of a permanent keepsake made from forever lasting silver.
